Children's Policy

Children’s Privacy

We are committed to protecting the privacy of children who use our Site, Applications, and Services. This section describes our practices with respect to collection, disclosure, and parental consent when we collect information under the age of 13 (“child” or “children”).

Information We Collect from Children. We offer a range of Services which are primarily targeted at children, and others that are intended for families and educators. Below, we provide a list of the types of information that we collect from children, along with our practices for providing parental notice and consent as required under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”). In any cases where we collect personal information from a child, we retain such information only as long as is reasonably necessary to: (i) fulfill the activity request or allow the child to continue to participate in the activity or use our Services, (ii) ensure the security of our users and our Services, or (iii) as required by law. If we learn that we have collected information from a child in a manner inconsistent with COPPA’s requirements, we will either delete the information or immediately seek the parent or guardian’s consent for such collection.

  • School-Related Information.  Some of our Applications allow children to upload, use, and modify copies of their homework or in-class assignments.

  • Responses to Surveys or Questionnaires. Some of our Applications allow children to provide attendance records, engagement metrics (such as time spent in classes), responses to social-emotional surveys, grades, and information about interactions between them and their teachers.

  • Student Generated Content. Certain activities on our Applications allow children to create, upload, or modify content and save it with us, such as homework and in-class assignments, videos, or image files, or responses to surveys or questionnaires.

When We Make Information We Collected from Children Available to Others. We may share or disclose personal information that we collect from children in a number of instances, including the following:

  • Service Providers. We may share information with our service providers if disclosure of such information is necessary for them to perform business, professional, or technological support functions for us.

  • As Required or Permitted by Applicable Law. We may disclose information if permitted or required by law, such as in response to a court order or subpoena. To the extent permitted by applicable law, we may disclose personal information from children:
  • In response to a request by law enforcement.
  • If we believe disclosure may facilitate a criminal investigation related to public safety, or to protect the safety of a child or children using our Site, Applications, or Services.
  • To protect the security or integrity of our Site and Applications.
  • To take precautions against liability.

  • Other Third Parties. We may share de-identified and aggregated student information with third parties, such as universities, for research purposes.

Verifiable Parental Consent. In the event we collect, use, or disclose personal information from a child, we will seek verifiable parental consent before doing so. Methods of consent include, but are not limited to, asking for a credit card or other payment method for verification (with a nominal charge involved), or requiring a signed consent form by mail, email attachment, or fax.

Parental Choices and Controls. Parents may, at any time, refuse to permit us to collect additional personal information from their children in association with a student account. Parents can also request that we delete all personal information we have in our records and that is associated with a student account. Please be advised that submission of a deletion request may result in termination of an Application account or access to the Services. Additionally, parents may agree to the collection and use of their child’s information, but still not allow disclosure to third parties unless such disclosure is required to provide the Services. Parents may exercise these rights by contacting us at: privacy@schoolified.com, or by choosing to delete the Application.

Changes to this Policy

This Policy is current as of the Effective Date set forth above. We may change this Policy from time to time, so please be sure to check back periodically. We will post any changes to this Policy on our Site and Applications.
